Our story
My name is Dennis, and I'm the founder of Easy Books.
I built this because I spent years using the software everyone uses, and I got tired of it.
Before
Like most small business owners, I used QuickBooks. And like most, I felt the friction every day. The menus went layers deep. The interface seemed designed for an accountant rather than for someone running a shop. And the one thing a product business cannot do without — accurate inventory tracking — was either missing from the version I could afford or buried in a cloud subscription that cost more every year.
Then the big software companies stopped listening. They pushed everyone into the cloud whether we wanted to go or not. They took our data off our own computers and onto theirs. They replaced the people who used to answer the phone with chatbots. The software got bigger, slower and more expensive, and it got further from the people it was supposed to help.
I didn't think it had to be that way.
The work
So I started writing my own. Not a simplified version of what already existed — a different thing, built from the first line for one kind of business: companies that buy products, hold them and sell them. No job costing for contractors. No hourly billing for consultants. Just the work a wholesale or retail business actually does, done in the fewest possible steps.
It took four years. The hard part was never the accounting; double-entry bookkeeping is centuries old and it works. The hard part was making it usable by someone who has never heard of a debit — and never needs to. Every window had to tell you where you were. Every instruction had to appear when you needed it. Every mistake had to be recoverable. Making software easy for the user takes far more work than just making it powerful, and I decided that it was work worth doing.
The result handles more than 175 business tasks, and the Task Map will show you where every one of them lives.
Our promise
We keep our overhead low so the price can stay low — one price, with everything included, and no increase after the first year.
Your data stays on your computers. We will never hold it in the cloud, and we will never hold it hostage.
When you need help, you'll reach a person who knows Easy Books thoroughly.
Who it's for
If you run a product business with up to twenty people, and you'd rather understand your own books than hand them to someone else, I built this for you. Request the manual and see for yourself.
Request the manual
We will send you the complete Easy Books User Manual and the Task Map, free and with no obligation. Read them, compare them against whatever you are using now, and judge for yourself whether this is simpler. It takes under a minute to ask.
