These terms cover your use of the easybooks.software website and, where stated, the Easy Books software. They're between you and Dennis S. Powning, doing business as Easy Books, a sole proprietorship based in Sacramento, California ("Easy Books", "we", "us"). By using the site or the software you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use them.

What we promise, and what we don't
Request the manualYou may use this site to learn about Easy Books, request documents and contact us. You may not use it to do anything unlawful, to interfere with its operation, or to scrape or copy its content for commercial use. The content — text, screenshots, the User Manual, the Task Map and the Easy Books name and logo — belongs to us. You may read it, print it and share it in the course of evaluating Easy Books; you may not republish it.
The User Manual and Task Map are provided free so you can evaluate Easy Books. They're ours, they're accurate to the best of our knowledge at the date they were produced, and they may change as the software does.
If you've been accepted as an early-adopter tester, these additional terms apply alongside your signed agreement. Easy Books is complete and tested, and you're expected to run your business on it. In return for being first, you receive two years' subscription free and priority phone support. We ask that you tell us what you find — problems, confusions, ideas — and you give us the right to use that feedback to improve the product. Don't share the installer or the download password outside your business. Releases will update as improvements are made, and this page will always hold the current one.
Easy Books is licensed, not sold. A subscription gives your business the right to install and use the software on up to ten computers at one business location for as long as the subscription is paid. It's for your business's own use; you may not resell it, share it with another business, or reverse-engineer it.
The price is $59.50 a month, billed quarterly at $178.50 every three months. You may cancel at the end of any quarter. There is no setup fee and no price increase after the first year. Updates are included and applied automatically.
Every subscription carries a 90-day money-back guarantee: cancel within 90 days of your first payment and we'll refund everything you've paid — in effect, your first quarter is fully refundable. After 90 days, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current quarter; payments already made aren't refunded.
Subscriptions are purchased and billed through our payment processor, Paddle, which handles payment and applicable sales tax on our behalf.
Your accounting data lives on your own computers and belongs entirely to you. We don't have access to it and don't want it. Backing it up is your responsibility — Easy Books includes a backup function, and the manual explains how to use it.
If your subscription ends, nothing is taken from you. Easy Books keeps running and you keep access to all your data; you can continue to post invoices and payments. What pauses is posting to the general ledger, which is what makes the software useful for keeping books. Easy Books still records every transaction in the meantime, and if you resume your subscription it posts all of them to the general ledger, so nothing is lost.
Support is included with a subscription, by email at support@easybooks.software. We aim to respond within a business day. Support covers how to use Easy Books; it doesn't cover accounting or tax advice, which you should get from an accountant.
We promise the software will do what the User Manual says it does, and that if it doesn't we'll fix it or refund you. Beyond that, the software and this site are provided "as is." We don't promise they'll be free of errors or available without interruption, and we aren't liable for lost profits, lost data or indirect loss arising from their use. Our total liability to you for anything connected with Easy Books is limited to what you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some states don't allow these limits, in which case they apply as far as the law permits.
Easy Books is a bookkeeping tool. It isn't a substitute for an accountant, and nothing on this site is accounting, tax or legal advice.
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change and anything significant will be announced on the site. We may suspend access to the site or the software if these terms are breached. You can stop using the site at any time and cancel a subscription at any time.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts in Sacramento County, California, and you agree to that jurisdiction.
