Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026

This policy explains what information Dennis S. Powning, doing business as Easy Books ("Easy Books", "we", "us"), collects when you use easybooks.software, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We've written it in plain English because we'd like you to actually read it.

The short version

We collect only what you give us through the forms on this site. We use it to send you what you asked for and to answer your questions. We never sell it, rent it or share it with anyone for their marketing. Your accounting data never touches our servers, because Easy Books is desktop software that keeps your books on your own computers.

What we collect

When you request the User Manual and Task Map, we collect the information you enter in the form: your name, company name, email address, phone number, type of business, approximate number of employees, the accounting software you currently use, and any message you write. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address and message. When you subscribe, our payment processor collects your payment details; we receive confirmation of payment but never see or store your card number.

We also collect the information any website collects automatically: your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and how long you stay. We use Google Analytics for this. It tells us how the site is used in aggregate; it does not tell us who you are.

What we do with it

We don't send marketing emails unless you've asked for them. If we ever start a newsletter, you'll be invited, not enrolled.

Send you the documents you requested

Answer your questions and, if you ask, discuss whether Easy Books fits your business

Understand which pages of the site are useful and which aren't

Provide support and send release information to beta testers and customers

What we don't do

We don't sell your information. We never have and we never will.

We don't share it with other companies for their marketing.

We don't collect or store your accounting data. Easy Books runs on your computers; your books stay there.

Who we share it with

Only the services we use to run this website and send email: our web host, our email delivery service, Google Analytics, and our payment processor, Paddle. Each processes data on our behalf under their own privacy terms and none of them may use it for anything else. We would disclose information if the law required it, and we'd tell you if we were permitted to.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of cookies: the ones Google Analytics needs to count visits, and the one that remembers the beta page password so you don't have to re-enter it. We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can block cookies in your browser; the site will still work.

How long we keep it

Form submissions are kept for as long as they're useful to us in helping you, and deleted when they aren't. If you'd like yours deleted sooner, ask and we'll do it.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion, and we honor those rights for everyone, not just Californians. We will never treat you differently for exercising them. Email support@easybooks.software and we'll respond within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Children

This site is for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. For anything significant, we'll say so on the site.
